He has not been charged. He needs to be questioned. Why not question him … anywhere? Why not question him in England? What is the problem? What is the game?
If he had flown here would we send him back if he was not charged?
Why would we?
What is the game?
That’s right Bob its a game.
Its a waiting game by US where the Grand Jury sits on its hands revealing nothing of its intentions towards Assange.
Its a legal game whereupon the Swedes ostensibly have reason to extradite him for questioning on matter that we now all know seems minor, trumped up or just disagreeably suspicious, but which nevertheless carries legal weight.
If the strong suspicion that the US is out to get him translates into a well-founded fear of persecution then Assange is forced to also play games as it were by rolling the dice with the Ecuadorians.
The theme to this merry dance is, oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to tell the goddamn truth for a change.
And I should have added that Australia is playing a game of can you still see my shoelaces in the meantime.
Exactly!! Assange has been in and out of courts, judges barristers and journalists have spent endless hours on this matter – did anyone ever mutter from the back of the court – “why not ask him here?” “what about phones vid-conference etc?”
Isn’t it time this question was asked, over and over until it is answered? By our prime minister or foreign minister, or by Janet Albechtsen perhaps. (she shares initials with Assange after all.)
Assange had a whole team of lawyers including QC Geoffrey Robertson. Of course they asked the court every question that might conceivably get him out of the EAW – that’s where all the excuses circulating on the web originate. The court dismissed it because he was charged with serious sexual offenses and the Swedish legal procedures had to be respected.
Don’t tell lies. He has not been charged with anything.
How dare you.
Damn slip of the tongue! Accused of, not charged with. Accused of, not charged with. Accused of, not charged with.
David Cameron may need a diversion after the systematic looting by Barclays Bank of untold millions of pounds. A SAS raid and grab on the Ecuadorian embassy might be just the thing.
I spent hours in front of the Leveson enquiry putting to right the rather tawdry insinuations that I and my Government were mere playthings of the Media interests of a powerful Press Baron. In all fairness, todays action in securing the person of Mr.Assange who had broken his bail conditions and flaunted the law of this country by trying to avoid the legal processes of another, is a vindication that this Government will not be held to ransom by any publishing organization, Mr. Cameron said.
It seems to me that the game is using his Wikileaks involvement to escape prosecution for criminal offenses.
No, no, no, no. He is innocent, because the girls continued to fuck him, or beseech him to return, after the ‘offences’.
Snd he has THEREFORE not been charged with anything.
He cannot be charged with anything. He is wanted only for questioning. He could be questioned anywhere.
His fears are therefore justified. It is not to charge him in Sweden he is being extradited there.
It is to give him up to the Americans, who plan to torture and kill him.
Or can you think of another explanation?
We seem to be going around in circles here. The “he hasn’t been charged” is another of the excuses of Assange’s legal team that an English court judge, and subsequently on appeal the High Court, dealt with when they upheld the validity of the arrest warrant.
They decided that it was clear from the EAW that he was wanted for prosecution and not merely for questioning. That seems like a good explanation to me.
If your proposition that those particular alleged behaviours of the alleged victims after the alleged offences proves their innocence then he shouldn’t have to wait long before going to Ecuador.
Where he allegedly wants to live.
The alternative explanation is that Assange and Swedish government are both complete idiots. Assange applied for a residence permit in Sweden because he thought it would be a good Wikileaks base. Why would he do that if he though they’d do anything the US wanted? Sweden refused him. Why would they do that is they wanted to hand him over to the US?
Maybe Sweden is not a static entity, and the Sweden that Assange assumed it was, is no longer.
I have been so long on this blog I no longer believe anything happens purely by chance.
When Assange arrived in Sweden with his basket of Wikileaks, he visited Sweden while she was in bed feeling a little wan and out of sorts. JA remarked on what big teeth, ears and nose Sweden had, becoming a little more suspicious every minute, and noting how Swedes when speaking English have a slight American accent, came to the conclusion that it wasn’t really Sweden at all.
And so ended up in England locked away in a castle where unfortunately no one came to rescue him. So he let down his golden locks and with acrobatic agility climbed down his own hair and escaped to the dark forest of the Ecuadorian embassy, where 7 guys are making sure no toothless hag gets to window with a shiny apple to lure him out.
There he will remain suspended in sleep, until a Princess Meinhof busts in there and gets him out.
