How’s this? When Keating introduced mandatory detention, that slowed the increasing traffic for a while. But when the refugee advocates came on again big time aiding and abbetting their favoured economic refugees over allowing war victims to come from camps to here it led to Tampa and the offshore solution. That worked too until the Rudd surrender.
Perhaps; and perhaps the world downturn in refugee desperation between 2002 and 2007 had something to do with it. BTW, the Navy pursued a policy of towing the boats back to Indonesia until the boaties wised up that a sinking boat has to be rescued instead.
By the way Bob, I know you don’t select the ads that appear here, but some do look a bit dodgy.
