The Last Days Of The Liberals (8): Swanny’s Latest River Of Gold And The Saddam Hussein Factor

Hard to see where Abbott, Pyne and Hockey go from here. Slipper seems innocent as charged. Thomson seems to have been framed, and to have been so wrongly persecuted that he, and his dignified oration, and the death threats against him, lost Abbott half a million supporters. The Budget was in surplus though Abbott swore it never would be. Pyne’s conspiracy with Ashby, probably treason, against the duly elected Speaker of the House will earn the Liberals no favours when he is back soon in the Chair. The idea that parliament is ‘toxic’ and must be urgently wound up, abandoned, abolished, sacked, seems more and more ridiculous each day it passes legislation and gives money to housewives and old people and disabled people and builds school halls and rebuilds flooded towns. And … the figures this morning … better than any in the world … well …

Joe has called Swanny ‘Australia’s worst Treasurer ever’. And he now claims the figures ‘would have been even better if we’d had a good government’ after saying for weeks the economy was tanking, and ‘what a danger to every Australian Wayne Swan is’, wanly smiling as he exits the room looking shamefaced and awkward and stupid.

It will take a while, but these things, all these things, plus the AWB revelations tomorrow, and Newman’s assault on the Barrier Reef, and O’Farrell’s unleashed mad shooters in the national parks eating fried koala and parboiled lorikeets, and Abbott’s history as an accused but acquitted groper, and Heffernan’s as a poofter basher, and Pyne’s as a shrieking twerpy nuisance, will ensure the end of the Liberal Party as a force in the land by … oh … January, 2016? February?

You can’t keep crying wolf, and telling big lies, and hurting innocent people. You can’t. Eventually it catches up with you.

Soon a Senate Enquiry will be asking, ‘Why did our Deputy Prime Minister give two hundred and ninety-seven million dollars to Saddam Hussein?’ And the Coalition’s numbers will drop, I think, precipitously round then.

Round August, I’d say.

And Labor will be well ahead by September.

Prove that I lie.

  1. Happily Morose

Agreed, but the electorate still waits with their baseball bats poised. The question is, does the ALP install Shorten before the election, or after their defeat?

  2. You’re banned, aren’t you?

    Will check.

What else do you disagree with?

  3. Actually the hooker has appeared and apologised to Craig Thomson because whe was not even in the country at the time.

  4. The banned are posting like bonobos on a viagra drip.

Go away and stay away. Can’t you tell when you aren’t welcome?

    Thick as two short planks.

    • Apologise, punk.

      Make my day.

      D-Day.

    • Tony Abbott’s phoney half arsed band.

I though Hockey was a decent bloke, hence why I can understand why and how Tony Abbott has “friends”, well past redemption now though, in my eyes. You can’t try and wreck the economy for what? Its disgusting and in my book equates to treason. Stupid bastards might as well be on the books of terrorist organisations.

How can the Tories pretend to care about “Jobs” & “Families” when they seek to talk down the economy at every turn?

    • “We”?

What are you a collective of astro turf trolls?

How do you sleep at night?

    • No, what I’d like to do is to discuss the issues of the day, plays, poems, books and films with Bob and with other like minded individuals and not have to argue the toss with people who have no sympathy and less understanding of these things.

      Capice?

  5. The AWB ‘let’s sweep this one under the carpet for the good of the nation’ business is bi-
partisan: closed down in 2009. Not the first, not the last, time both sides of the House clean up dirty tricks carried out by their elected brethren behind closed doors. Look back to ‘bottom of the harbour’ fraud of 70′s & 80′s as just one example.
