Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the Party and, more importantly, join the dots; and, as we did in the old days, follow the thread.
This is the story so far.
A man unfit to run an international corporation has paid Newspoll, which concealed the rising vote of the Katter Australian Party throughout the entirety of the March Queensland election, to print on Tuesday last a poll showing Labor on 41 two party preferred and destabilise its leadership. This poll rang no mobile phones and admits a margin of error of 3 percent.
And we are to believe these figures, and panic about them.
The man unfit to run an international corporation who may, if Jay Rockefeller has his way — as Rockefellers tend to do — be arrested and tried in America soon, has tweeted that Australia must go to an election soon, just as when in 1975 he asked John Kerr to consider the process by which he might sack Whitlam eighteen months after his re-election, which Kerr duly, humbly, drunkenly did.
And we are to believe these figures, and panic about them.
They were figures that came in on the back of a civil case of sexual harassment against the third highest official in the land, a homosexual in a leather jacket with a Dickens look to his nose and eyebrows. This case now seems to be a conspiracy of three Liberal voters, one of them at least occasionally heterosexual, who talked a long time, as Murdoch did with Kerr in 1975, about what to do about things.
And we are to believe these figures, and panic about them.
How long does it take to realise that Newspoll serves Murdoch, supplying and suppressing figures according to his whim, his edict, his prejudice, his passing fury? Figures on some people, like Rudd, whom he likes to sometimes befriend, but not on others like Swan, Shorten, Crean, Combet, Clare or Carr who might poll equally well, or better? How long does it take? A lifetime? How long, oh Lord, how long does it take to do whatever it takes to get a fair Newspoll done between elections, or to read one with acuity?
I’ll say it again. Newspoll is not to be trusted, as its long Queensland silence proved, and O’Shannessy’s refusal, in these columns, to say if he suppressed pro-Katter polls though he wrote in on other things, suppressed pro-Katter polls on Murdoch’s orders. I ask him if he did, again.
Newspoll is not to be trusted. And the Labor vote was probably 45 on the worst weekend of the Slipper distraction. And it is probably 46 now as the Slipper distraction falls apart. And it will be 48 by Friday after Abbott stuffs up, as he will, his Budget reply.
And we can win from there.
Budget Reply! That is a joke.
He will give the same political speech he has given the last 200 times, with whatever tiny updates he can manage.
Censure him.
A couple of weeks ago Bob, I saw a reply from O’Shannessy on this blog answering your accusations. He denied the accusations and said it was his final answer. I can’t find it anywhere, he gave some explanation as to why Katter’s Party numbers were not included. Maybe you missed the reply?
He never mentioned the Katter party numbers.
But you did see it R1, I wasn’t imagining it, where did it go?
Forgot to mention, I loved the “ahh rooms” submarine thing.
It might have lost something in the Google translation.
I saw it alright, with my own two peepers. He clenched onto one line of thought which he could comfortably refute and hammered it home with all the noble indignation a Liberal man can muster, which is a lot. Doug fell for it hook, line and sinker. Meanwhile, he never mentioned the Katter numbers.
Look for an article where Bob writes about the comment and how Bob was wrong in the respect noted but how the comment didn’t mention the Katter numbers, and the comment itself is two or three articles before that, towards the end.
Dear Bob and blog readers.
I certainly did answer your accusation about the Katter Party. I also pointed out that we published the Katter numbers in both polls running up to the QLD state election. I included the following link .
I also said that, until they looked like a national force, I was not planning to show them separately in federal polling.
I have gone back to all your posts on me since January and I have been unable to find that reply on your blog. Could you tell us where you put it?
I also pointed out that you are just unhappy with the poll results at the moment and that when they do swing around (as they inevitably will do) you will be happy and somebody else will make it their business to pester me the way you are doing now.
To re-iterate I have never been asked by anybody to conceal, adjust delay or otherwise interfere with a poll and I have never done so. You insult me and impugn my professional ethics by saying that I have for any reason.
On that topic of insults, I also see that you say that I smell like a criminal, that I am a liar, innumerate and a jelly-back. I am a human being with friends, family and colleagues, I am entitled to follow my occupation without being insulted regularly by you – I think you owe me an apology.
Why did you fail to note as a party one that gained more votes than the Nationals federally and nearly as many as the Greens, federally?
Why did you run no polls for the whole five weeks of an election?
Why?
Have you looked at the link I provided? Katter’s party is in the release. How is that ‘fail to note’?
And for the second time, we never do more than one or two polls in a state campaign. I have already established that by providing references to the number of polls conducted in all past state campaigns in every state in an earlier post that you also seem to have forgotten. Dealing with you is like having an aunty with Alzheimer’s!
Do some homework and stop wasting my time.
